Running Containers on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service
This is a 3-day course concentrating on the differences between “vanilla” Kubernetes and EKS.
In this 3-day course, you will learn how to use Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) to manage and orchestrate containers with Kubernetes. Amazon EKS allows you to run Kubernetes on AWS without the hassle of installing and maintaining your own control plane. You will work with Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR) to manage container images and automate application deployment using continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) tools. The course covers monitoring and scaling your environment through metrics, logging, tracing, and both horizontal and vertical scaling. You will also learn to manage storage for your containerized applications, configure AWS networking services for your cluster, and secure your Amazon EKS environment. The course is designed for intermediate learners and includes presentations, hands-on labs, demonstrations, and group exercises.
By the end of the course, you will be able to describe the main components of Kubernetes, including key objects and the core components of the Kubernetes API. You will understand how Amazon EKS manages the Kubernetes control plane and parts of the data plane. You will learn to build and maintain an Amazon EKS cluster, deploy applications to it and manage applications running in large-scale EKS clusters. Additionally, you will configure secure communication within the cluster and with external services, set up observability in an EKS cluster, provision storage for applications, and secure your EKS cluster.
This course is aimed at individuals involved in container orchestration management in the AWS Cloud, such as cloud architects, DevOps engineers, and systems administrators. To get the most out of this course, it is recommended that participants have completed an Introduction to Containers, an Amazon EKS Primer, and AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, or have equivalent real-world experience, along with basic Linux and network administration skills.
