Agentic AI Foundations

This 1-day course is an introduction to the core principles of designing agentic AI systems on AWS, including hands-on labs.

In the Agentic AI Foundations course, you will learn how agentic AI differs from traditional conversational systems and what makes a solution agentic. You will start with the limitations of large language models and the innovations that led to agents, then look at the core components of agentic systems, the different types of agents (workflow, autonomous, and hybrid), and basic implementation patterns. The course also compares the AWS service options for agentic AI, including Amazon Bedrock flows, Amazon Quick Suite, Amazon Q Developer, Kiro, the Strands Agents SDK, and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

During the day, you will take part in presentations, group exercises, and hands-on labs. In the labs you will accelerate software development with Amazon Q Developer and get started with Strands Agents, building and customizing a basic AI agent and a simple task-specific agent. The course closes with building custom solutions, covering infrastructure customization, observability and monitoring, and agent interoperability for production agentic AI systems.

This course is aimed at software developers new to agentic AI, technical professionals exploring AI capabilities, development teams evaluating agentic AI solutions, and AWS users expanding into agentic AI. It is recommended that attendees have completed Generative AI Essentials or have equivalent work experience, along with basic AWS knowledge and software development experience.
