CompTIA a+ Cyber

The CompTIA a+ Cyber course is designed for complete beginners who are curious about cybersecurity, including students, recent graduates and career changers. No prior experience is required, and no technical background is assumed, so it works as a friendly on-ramp for anyone who wants to build the foundation needed before starting Security+ training.

Participants explore the work of cybersecurity teams, configure, monitor and secure Linux and Windows systems, and learn to set up IP addresses, manage SOHO routers and browse the web securely. They also cover enterprise campus network basics such as cabling, switches, firewalls and virtualization, along with cybersecurity controls like intrusion detection, incident response and vulnerability management. Further topics include automating tasks with Bash scripts, protecting data through backups and database management, and analyzing and responding to threats. Hands-on virtual machine labs, assessments with instant feedback and progress reports keep the learning practical.

The course ends with a CompTIA CompCert assessment, and you earn a downloadable Competency Certificate to showcase your achievement. It is not a certification and does not directly prepare you for the Security+ exam. Instead, it gives you the knowledge and confidence to begin Security+ training, the next step towards entry-level cybersecurity roles.
