CompTIA AI Prompting Essentials
The CompTIA AI Prompting Essentials course is designed for anyone who wants to feel more confident and effective using AI at work, whatever their career stage or technical background. Students, professionals, career changers and lifelong learners are all welcome, and no prior experience is required. It complements the AI Essentials course, which introduces the basics of AI, while this one focuses on hands-on skills; you can take them in either order.
Through videos, interactive exercises and authentic workplace scenarios, participants learn to decide when and how to use AI for different tasks, taking complexity and risk into account. You will practice writing clear prompts for chatbots, refining responses through follow-up interaction rather than one-off requests, and critically evaluating outputs for accuracy, bias and quality. The course also covers ethical and secure AI use, including privacy, transparency and copyright, and shows how to automate routine tasks and bring AI into multi-step projects and everyday workplace functions.
AI Prompting Essentials is part of the CompTIA Essentials Series and is a training course rather than a traditional certification. It ends with a competency assessment, and on completion you earn a downloadable CompTIA CompCert, a certificate of competency that you can share on your resume or LinkedIn to show employers that you can make AI a reliable partner in your daily work.
