Building AI Agents with ADK & Gemini
This 6-hour Cloud Hero course is a gamified, hands-on challenge in building AI agents with the Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Gemini.
You will use ADK to build and orchestrate multi-agent systems in which specialized agents coordinate with each other, and extend these agents with Agent Search, Google Search and custom function tools. You will build a reasoning layer that talks to remote MCP servers, deploy agentic applications to Cloud Run and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, and develop a root agent architecture that manages sub-agents, handles session state and retrieves values for complex instructions.
The game consists of five labs of about 90 minutes each, from getting started with ADK and giving agents tools, to building an AI agent with an MCP server on Cloud Run, evaluating agent performance with the Agent Platform Generative AI Evaluation Service, and finishing with a challenge lab in which you deploy an agent.
This is an advanced course for anyone who wants to move past simple single-prompt chatbots and master production-grade, multi-agent orchestration. Attendees should be proficient in Python, REST APIs and containerization for Cloud Run, comfortable with the Google Cloud Console and gcloud CLI, and have a solid understanding of LLMs and agentic workflows.
