Cybersecurity Essentials in Google Cloud

This 2-3 hour Cloud Sparks session is a short, interactive introduction to cybersecurity and how it plays out on Google Cloud.

Cybersecurity Essentials in Google Cloud starts with the fundamentals: key terms, the main domains of cybersecurity, why it matters, and the threats and attacks organizations face. You then look at frameworks and models, in particular the CIA triad and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, and see how they map to Google Cloud security services.

The session includes live demos of Google Cloud IAM, Secret Manager, firewall rules for network security, Confidential Computing and Security Command Center, and a discussion on cybersecurity in context. It finishes with a look at how AI changes the picture, comparing traditional and AI-powered approaches to threat detection, investigation and response on Google Cloud’s AI-powered security platform, and ends with a short knowledge-check quiz.

The session is aimed at IT professionals, cloud engineers, junior security analysts and security managers. Basic knowledge of cybersecurity, IT and cloud, along with some familiarity with Google Cloud, SOC roles and AI/ML, will help you get the most out of it.
