Essentials of Monitoring Critical Systems gives an overview of Google Cloud Monitoring and how to use it well. Over 5 modules, you look at monitoring architecture patterns, view metrics across multiple cloud projects using metrics scopes, and get to know the Cloud Monitoring data model, predefined and custom dashboards, the dashboard builder, Metrics Explorer and chart options.
Participants also learn what Prometheus Query Language (PromQL) and Google Cloud Managed Service for Prometheus are for when querying metrics, and how to create uptime checks and relate them to alerting policies so you know when a resource becomes unavailable.
The session is aimed at cloud engineers, site reliability engineers, system administrators and anyone responsible for monitoring Google Cloud environments. A basic understanding of Google Cloud concepts is all you need.
