Data Warehousing with BigQuery: Storage Design, Query Optimization, and Administration
In this 3-day course we’re taking a look at BigQuery from the inside, and at how to design, optimize and administer a data warehouse built on it.
The Data Warehousing with BigQuery: Storage Design, Query Optimization, and Administration course mixes lectures, demos and labs. You start with BigQuery architecture and how to design optimal storage and schemas for data ingestion and changes. Next come techniques to improve read performance, optimize queries, manage workloads and use logging and monitoring tools, together with an overview of the different pricing models.
Across 11 modules and 11 labs, the course then turns to securing data and resources, automating workloads and managing capacity, and building and deploying several categories of machine learning models with BigQuery ML. Participants come away understanding patterns versus anti-patterns for query optimization and how to apply security best practices to govern their data.
This course is aimed at data analysts, data scientists, data engineers and developers who work at a scale that calls for advanced BigQuery internals knowledge. Participants are expected to know SQL, basic data warehousing and distributed data processing concepts, and to have completed Introduction to Data Engineering and an introduction to BigQuery. Administrative tasks, data warehouse migrations and analyzing data with BigQuery are not the focus and are covered in other courses.
