Architecting with Google Compute Engine
In this 3-day course we’re taking a hands-on look at Google Cloud’s infrastructure and platform services, with a special focus on Compute Engine.
Architecting with Google Compute Engine combines lectures, demos and hands-on labs to explore and deploy the building blocks of a solution: networks, virtual machines and application services. Over the three days you work through the console and Cloud Shell, virtual networks with Private Google Access and Cloud NAT, VM machine types, disks and pricing options, IAM, and the storage and database services Google Cloud offers, from Cloud Storage and Cloud SQL to Spanner, Firestore and Bigtable.
You also learn how to keep an environment organized and under control, with resource hierarchy, quotas, labels, budget alerts and billing analysis in BigQuery, plus monitoring and logging with Cloud Monitoring. Further topics are hybrid connectivity with Interconnect, peering and HA VPN, load balancing and autoscaling, infrastructure automation with Terraform, and an overview of managed data processing services. The course includes 17 labs, so there is plenty of time to build and configure things yourself.
The course is aimed at cloud solutions architects, DevOps engineers and anyone using Google Cloud to build new solutions or integrate existing systems and infrastructure. Participants should have completed Google Cloud Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure or have equivalent experience, be comfortable with command-line tools and Linux, and have systems operations experience, either on-premises or in a public cloud. Google Kubernetes Engine, App Engine, Cloud Functions and Cloud Run are not covered.
