Getting Started with Google Kubernetes Engine

This 1-day course is a practical start with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Getting Started with Google Kubernetes Engine introduces Kubernetes, the software layer between your applications and your hardware infrastructure, and GKE, which brings it as a managed service on Google Cloud. The day begins with a short introduction to Google Cloud and its compute options, then covers containers, container images and Cloud Build, the components and architecture of Kubernetes, how Google manages Kubernetes orchestration, and Kubernetes operations.

Through lectures, classroom activities and four hands-on labs you will use the Google Cloud console and Cloud Shell, create containers with Cloud Build, and create and manage GKE clusters with the console and the gcloud and kubectl commands.

The course is aimed at application developers, cloud solutions architects, DevOps engineers, IT managers and others who use Google Cloud to create new solutions or integrate existing systems and environments with it. Participants should have completed Google Cloud Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure or have equivalent experience, plus basic proficiency with command-line tools and Linux environments.
