Enterprise Database Migration

In this 4-day course we’re taking a look at how to architect, plan, execute and test enterprise database migrations to Google Cloud.

Enterprise Database Migration gives architects, engineers and developers the skills to help enterprise customers move on-premises databases to Google Cloud. The course covers moving SQL Server to Compute Engine and Cloud SQL and running Oracle on Google Cloud bare metal. You will evaluate the database solutions available on Google Cloud, including Kubernetes and GKE, Cloud SQL and Bare Metal Solution for Oracle, estimate costs, and follow Google’s implementation methodology to choose the right migration approach.

Through presentations, demos, classroom activities and hands-on labs across ten modules, you will recognize and overcome real-world challenges such as preventing data loss, preserving data integrity and minimizing downtime. You will also test and monitor migration projects, use tools to automate migration and make the business case for moving databases to Google Cloud.

The course is for engineers planning or working on a database migration to Google Cloud, and for technical managers and IT decision-makers who want to understand its benefits, risks and processes. Participants should hold the Professional Cloud Architect and/or Professional Data Engineer certification or equivalent knowledge, understand relational and NoSQL database design, and have SQL and programming experience. Database administration tasks are not covered.
