Technical Foundations of FinOps on Google Cloud
In this 2-day course we’re taking a look at the technical side of FinOps on Google Cloud.
Technical Foundations of FinOps on Google Cloud is for people who want to optimize cloud spending and drive business value. You start with the principles of FinOps, the Google Cloud FinOps framework, operating model and the three phases and five pillars of the Google FinOps journey, then explore and analyze billing data, including billing account management, IAM permissions and billing exports analyzed with BigQuery and Looker Studio.
Across ten modules and thirteen labs you will implement resource tagging and labeling for cost allocation, set up budgets and alerts, analyze and optimize costs for services such as BigQuery, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, databases and Vertex AI, and use Cloud Asset Inventory and the FinOps Hub for cost recommendations. You will also see how infrastructure as code can automate cost management and enforce spending policies, and how to build a FinOps team, roadmap and workflows, with hands-on exercises and case studies.
The course is aimed at cloud architects, engineers and technical professionals. Participants should know Google Cloud infrastructure as covered in Google Cloud Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure.
