Cilium in Action: Kubernetes Security & Insight (LFWS315)

This one-day course introduces you to Cilium and shows how to deploy, configure, secure and monitor networking on a multi-node Kubernetes cluster.

Suggested prerequisites: Linux administration skills, comfort with the command line and editing files with a command-line text editor, and Kubernetes administration skills. CKA/CKAD certifications or equivalent professional experience are recommended.

Audience: Engineers, developers and administrators, including DevOps engineers, SREs and cloud engineers

If you want to level up your Kubernetes networking, observability and security skills, this hands-on Cilium workshop is for you. It is designed for DevOps engineers, SREs, cloud engineers and administrators who run Kubernetes clusters and need to protect the networks and microservices on them.

After a short review of Kubernetes and network fundamentals, you will get started with Cilium and eBPF. You will then use Hubble to visualize and observe the network, and work with network policies and compare Kubernetes network policy with Cilium network policy. Further topics are the Cilium Gateway API and service mesh capabilities, mutual authentication, transparent encryption with IPsec and WireGuard, and Cluster Mesh. Labs accompany most of these topics so you can try the features yourself.

You will leave with the skills to efficiently protect Kubernetes networks and microservices. The course includes a certificate of completion and a digital badge.
